Nuclear Weapon Holocaust

Nuclear weapons and climate heating are twin Damocles swords hanging over all our heads with threats to undo civilized life on planet Earth. Less than 1% of the world’s nuclear arsenals detonated on cities could create worldwide winter temperatures lasting a decade and decimating crops, destroying economies, and starving billions of people. 

U.S. plans for deterring nuclear attacks by the Soviet Union or other nuclear armed countries call for retaliating with hydrogen bombs thousands of times more powerfel than the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs, easily creating the winter temperatures noted above. A single Trident nuclear-armed submarine from Hood Canal near Seattle could do the same, as could the Russian or Chinese nuclear-armed submarines. 

There is no cure once these weapons are used, only prevention, and that’s our goal and our passion for sustaining life on a shared planet. Working together with China and Russia is especially important. Citizen action is needed now.
